Residents' Association
Chair's Report, March 2024
I had hoped to be passing on good news about public transport in Red Lane in this edition, but Warwickshire County Council are not able to confirm arrangements because they are still in contractual negotiations with the Department of Transport and lndi-Go Plus. Following strong concerns about the axing of Stagecoach's Number 24 bus route through Red Lane, highlighted by Chloe Skidmore's petition, Sir Jeremy Wright MP has been exploring alternatives. He arranged a meeting with WCC Transport Department which I attended on January 29th. WCC agreed to look into the possibility of extending the Ind-Go Plus service to the whole of Red Lane and seemed hopeful that'it would be possible as currently the service ends at Beehive Hill, just next door to Red Lane. We will pass on details as soon as they are available.
Concerns that have recently been raised with the Residents' Association include the ongoing problem of parking on the pavement, which the police frequently follow up, and the need for a bus shelter in Red Lane, which the Parish Council are addressing. We are very grateful to Jo for carrying out maintenance on the mosaics which have been temporarily removed for that purpose. The plaque on the verge is being replaced because of wear and tear.
We have had a request for residents to bring in their bins before the end of collection day, so that our narrow and uneven pavements stay as safe as possible, and the village looks tidy. It says a lot about us as a community that we take looking after our environment very seriously even when we are facing HS2 devastation and disruption. Many thanks to all those residents who continue to litter pick as part of their daily routine; this makes a real difference to our environment.
The next Residents' lunch is Friday, March 22nd so book your place for a delicious meal and very pleasant company!
The Burton Green Bugle is going from strength to strength thanks to our editor Mary Webb, and the interesting and useful articles contributed. Many thanks to the delivery team for ensuring copies go through every door in our expanding community.
